Super Chicken

Mattie sold enough magazines for her school fundraiser to get a toy reward.

She was thrilled to choose a chicken alarm clock. The chicken crows & you throw it against the wall or on the ground to make it stop. Unfortunately, throwing it only makes it go into snooze mode--not a good situation when you are sleeping on the top bunk.

Super chicken was a cheap chicken and only worked properly once or twice. I guess it got thrown one time to many against the wall. Super chicken hasn't alarmed since sometime in late September or early October...until this morning.

Derick is getting ready at a ridiculously early hour to go fly. Ok, it was around 6am. He is standing at the end of the bed when he suddenly says, "That chicken is going off!"

He rushes out of the room to retrieve the chicken, but it had done its job & awaken both girls. At 6am. A full hour before they need to get out of bed.

Well, by this time we are all awake from the excitement, but Derick is able to talk the girls back to sleep. Whew.

I stayed in the warm bed, waiting the 40 minutes for my alarm to go off, drifting in and out of sleep. At some point during this time, I dreamed that the preschool enrollment fee for Caroline's preschool in Leavenworth had increased. I had apparently missed the registration date and they would give her a spot, but it would cost me--$10 dollars more!

Needless to say, super chicken is sleeping in our room tonight. And probably for the rest of its life.

  1. Julie: That is hysterical. I'd love to be able to whip my stupid alarm clock at the wall every morning. And those darn "prizes" for the fundraisers are so cheap, aren't they?
