Laugh For The Day

I took the girls to a cute shop in downtown Prattville this weekend. Surprisingly, Mattie was really enjoying herself and called for me to come over saying, "Mommy, I need this!"

She was holding a magnet that said,

"Pretending to be normal every day is exhausting."

It's Official!

We now have a kindergarten student and a 3rd grader!

Our first morning was smooth and the four of us went together to drop the girls at their respective schools. Mattie was excited an very brave as always. She didn't even hesitate when it was time for her to get out of the car.

Derick and I walked Caroline into school and she, too, was very brave and very excited. We kissed her good bye & walked away fighting our own tears. Luckily, the principal was at the front door with a box of kleenex!

Waiting with her classmates before the first day of K.

In front of Prattville Kindergarten School. Check out her awesome shoes!

Beautiful sisters!!

The end of the day was different from the beginning! I picked up Caroline and she was wearing a very stern face, "This place is BORING," she informed me! "I am not going back." After I explained that, legally, I had to take her back, she said, "Fine. I'll just hide from you." Hmmm.

Mattie got off of the bus (her idea to ride the bus home) and I could tell that she was barely holding herself together. By the time she got over to our yard, she was bawling, "The bus was SCARY. I hate it." Luckily, the rest of her day wasn't so bad!

Stay tuned to see what the rest of the week brings!

Back To School Dessert

Our family has a back-to-school tradition. We go out for dessert on the night before school starts. This year, we chose Bruster's. Caroline had "what grammy and grampy had" (the last time they visited, they took the girls to Bruster's)--a chocolate shake. Mattie had a scoop of Birthday Cake Ice Cream.

When the dessert is done, we can begin our school year. Even if it is insanely early!

I am aware that I haven't done any blogging this summer. It has been a fun, busy, hectic, miserable summer all rolled into one. Our move did not go well, but we love our house. It is great being so near family and we've had fun visiting and being visited. I will randomly post some pictures from the summer throughout the next few weeks!
