Well folks, we made it to Wally World. The moment we drove through the gate, all I could picture was Chevy Chase running through the parking lot to the Chariots of Fire Theme. It is amazing I could think of anything. Out of bed at 4 a.m., two flights, one very quick walk through the Houston airport and a bus ride later, we were yet to arrive at our hotel. But it was worth the wait and the girls did very well traveling. Caroline totally zonked out on the bus ride from the airport. I wish we could have all slept so soundly!
We love our room at the Wilderness Lodge, though we plan to see very little of it! The girls are happy in their bunks and I am casting longing glances at the Queen size bed waiting for my sleepy head! The lodge itself looks like a neat place to explore and I hope we will have some time for that tomorrow. However, in true Judy Rowell fashion, we were off to Epcot in the twitch, I mean blink, of an eye.
After another bus ride (during which Mattie made friends with the people who had driven from Illinois, visited Bibbity Bobbity Boutique, and found it interesting we had lived in Japan), we made it to our restaurant just in time. Derick had booked us at a Moroccan restaurant and it was fabulous. Shish kibabs, hummus, dessert...oh my! During our meal we watched a Moroccan dancer and listened to live music. Then we walked around Epcot, enjoying the night scenery and searching for some of the hidden Mickey's indicated in our Birnbaum's guide. The girls selected rainbow colored "light sabers" with Mickey Mouse on one end & they spent the rest of the evening playing with those.
We hung around for the Illusions show (Mattie watched dutifully with her ears covered while Caroline hid behind me) at Epcot and then made a beeline for bed. All the while, Derick expressed his happiness at being on a bus as opposed to being behind the wheel.
We ended our evening with an elevator ride with Cody and Cheyenne (total strangers, but we liked their names). We exited the elevator and, like mules headed to the barn, made a wrong turn and explored most of the 5th floor of the hotel. We realized we were lost when our key didn't work in the door we thought was ours! Ooooooops. More walking.
Tomorrow we hit the Magic Kingdom after a much-needed night of sleep!
