I wonder why roller coasters make me laugh. I don't mean that I stand there and watch them and laugh. I mean, when I ride them, they make me laugh uncontrollably. I absolutely LOVE roller coasters. Today I got to ride Space Mountain. It was EXACTLY like I remember it being when I was a kid. The story of my parents getting on Space Mountain with me is one of my favorites. I think Cope was already around, so I was over 8, but not by too much. My grandparents must have stayed with Cope while Mom, Dad and I stood in line for Space Mountain. Looking back, I am pretty sure they didn't know it was a roller coaster. Neither of them will get near a roller coaster. But here we go, loading on the rockets for a ride on Space Mountain. I clearly remember riding with my dad, so I think they have changed the rockets around a bit. More clearly, I remember my Mom riding with a sailor. I can still hear her screaming bloody murder as she rode in the car behind dad and me! As far as I know, that was the last time either of them have been on a roller coaster. Today was the first time I have been back on Space Mountain. Wow! What a ride. I laughed a lot.
Our first order of business, however, was to see Peter Pan. Mattie and Caroline were the second in line this morning & I am pretty sure Mattie was blushing by the time she finished talking to Pan. Like all of the other characters we have encountered, he was great. When the girls told him we live in New Mexico, he asked where Old Mexico went. Then he asked that the girls put Old Mexico back as soon as they found it. Mattie thought that was absolutely hilarious and repeated it all to me verbatim as if I hadn't been there listening with my own ears! Immediately after, we headed back for a repeat ride on the Peter Pan ride and It's A Small World before getting the girls headed towards Tomorrow Land. Today we enjoyed a 3-D Film, Buzz Light Year, Grand Prix and story time with Belle.
We left the park around 4 today to make sure Mattie could get in some time on the water slide at our hotel. Plus, we were pretty Disneyed-out by that time.
Currently, the girls are exhausted. Derick would very much like to return to see the fireworks show at Magic Kingdom (we saw it earlier, but not from a good vantage point), but the girls are both melting down. I think we may stay home!
Tomorrow, we will take the first star to the right and go straight on 'til morning. Oh, wait! That is Neverland. Shoot, we will actually take a Continental flight to Houston, then straight on 'til ABQ. Back to reality tomorrow. I am not ready.
