Of course Derick excelled...

Derick and I went snowboarding yesterday. Doesn't that sound cool? It sounds especially cool coming out of my mouth since my outdoor adventure time has been cut severely since becoming a mom. But here is my real question--why has it taken so long for me to try snowboarding?

I hate snow skiing, so maybe that is why...but riding a board is nothing like skiing. In fact, despite my beginner status, my snowboarding skills are much better ALREADY than my skiing skills have ever been. But here is the sad part...we are moving soon and Sandia is closing their ski area because there is no snow. We watched it melting before our eyes yesterday.

I will say that I have a lovely purple bruise on my knee and walking takes concentration, but I cannot wait to go back. I am addicted. Do you think I can find a place in Kansas?

In other news...we hit the ground running after our Disney trip. Mattie had to go straight to school the next day & mom and dad also arrived the day after our return. The laundry pile was tall enough for someone to ski down and I have, of course, wanted to take advantage of mom & dad's visit. We have enjoyed shopping and eating and just being together. I think maybe today I can start to catch up.

I will try not to wait another week before my next post!
