I am more surprised than anyone that I am updating this blog. But more surprising than that is why I was motivated to create this new post.
On Monday night, Caroline fell out of the swing in our backyard and broke her arm!
In 13 years of marriage, our family has never had a broken bone. So this is a new experience for us. While we are eager for Caroline's arm to heal, I constantly remind myself of all of the positives about this situation.
1. The GP told me to prepare myself because she felt, after a phone consult with ortho, that Caroline might have to be taken immediately to Chapel Hill for surgery. But once we saw the orthopaedic surgeon here in Pinehurst, he said that she would only need a hard splint. I can't tell you how happy I was to hear that after thinking that a surgical procedure was imminent.
2. Caroline is able to sleep comfortably. I was really concerned about that since her splint holds her arm at a 90-degree angle.
3. It is her left arm - and she is right handed.
4. Summer was over and our pool and beach time were complete. The splint cannot get wet. Which leads to this picture . . .
We can't get the splint wet, so I decided to attempt to wash her hair in the sink! She loved it and her hair is clean.
Caroline is such a trooper!
