The PTA threw a back to school dance for the kids on Friday afternoon. The girls seemed to have a good time, but it was very warm in the old-fashioned, un-air conditioned gym. The heat was exacerbated by the fact refreshments were served on the tennis court!
I know where they were served because I was a refreshment volunteer. I met several moms who are military and new in town, so that was great.
The DJ did a great job trying to keep the kids entertained (kindergartners and first graders are too young to attend a dance!), but the girls decided that they were ready to leave about an hour before it was over.
Fine by me. I was done with my job at the concession stand & was starting to sunburn, so we cut out and rode home with the A/C on high in the car.
They danced enough to get good an sweaty and they both said they had a great time. I didn't meet any of Mattie's new friends, but I met one of Caroline's friends, Haley. She was super cute and informed me that Caroline is her very best friend. :) That made it all worth while.
