Can I Get A Quote With That?

This is parent-teacher conference week for both girls. I met with Mattie's teacher yesterday.

Derick and I continue to be amazed by her academic ability. Her math "rating" for this semester is 96% and she is reading well into the second grade level. Her teacher was especially complementary about her abilities in math and her creativity (particularly with writing and drawing). I am thinking that maybe my mother's plan to marry me off to someone with "math skills" worked!

The teacher also complemented Mattie's willingness to help her classmates when asked to do so.

Here's the best part...Mattie is using quotation marks in her writing, and using them correctly! I didn't know she was doing this & the teacher assumed I had taught her. We laughed at how perceptive M is, processing not only the words she is reading, but the way in which they are written. Wow!

I have to throw in one more complement--the teacher noted that it was obvious that D & I are good parents who put the needs of our children first (so true). I am thrilled that a "stranger" can recognize our desire to succeed at parenting by spending time with Mattie. We all know that there have been some anxious and tumultuous moments in the last 7 years!

I hope we will all find as much success with 2nd grade in Leavenworth!

Caroline's conference is Friday. Update to follow!
