Brag moment: Mattie was asked to join 14 other kids from her school to sing the Star Spangled Banner at the Pinehurst First Annual Police Awards and Memorial Ceremony. The kids did a great job. It was a pretty fancy event with the mayor and lots of policemen in the audience. I videoed the singing, but I couldn't get Mattie into the picture at all - not even her shoes. So I won't post the video.
In other news, we had a great Saturday. Things got a little crazy when a bird flew into the house. Cebu opens the screen door to go in and out, but he forgets to close it. I had no idea it was open and the next thing I know, there's a ruckus in the eating area. Somehow I got the bird back out of the door before it flew into the main part of the house and got hopelessly lost. I don't know who was more concerned - me or the bird.
Both girls attended birthday parties. Mattie went to a pool party and Caroline went to a tea party birthday. Here's Caroline all ready to go . . .
The weather was absolutely perfect today (cool for a pool party) and we gravitated towards the yard all day. After the parties, we ordered pizza and stayed out front for a couple of house - even eating the pizza sitting on the driveway.
We miss Derick, but we're doing ok without. Though I would have preferred he deal with the bird.
